Traveling with Long Fins and weights

What do you use to travel with freediving fins and weights on an airplane?

I'm thinking of making a wooden crate for the fins and weights and to put the soft stuff (wetsuit, mask, etc.) in a duffle with adequate padding.

Re: Traveling with Long Fins and weights

Carry them on

I wear my weight belt and just put in through security... they look at me weird but there is nothing illegal about it, and im not sticking 15-20lbs in my checked bag where they would charge me...

Get a fin bag or just duct tape them together and stick them in the over head. I have a fin bag with a small pocket that I put a mask / gloves / booties in.

"sunbrella" type canvas bag. If you are REALLY worried, don't use Plywood...use 3/4" foil covered foam board sides ( at every Home Depot and Lowes)...strong and LIGHT!
