So cal guys fill this out and ask them to open your areas up if you are seeing good numbers of abs. It's not going to happen soon, but if enough divers ask maybe it will in the future.

Just completed the form with my plea for socal abalone.

I see more 10 inch and up abalone than 14 inch up up Calicos where I dive.

A more likely benefit to SoCal divers might be a multi limit card. Something like 9 per day, 9 per year allowing you to come north for a weekend but strongly impacting your annual catch.

Would something like this appeal to SoCal divers?

Even though I live in East Bay, it would be great for my family when they come visit and want to buy an ab card for the weekend they are here. Be awesome to have a higher day limit for a weekend trip.

9 seems like a lot to me. Seems like a good way to encourage too many tourists to come and deplete a spot. I could see upping a limit to 4 or even 5 or 6, but 9 seems a bit much

I'd rather they open up down here in areas, even if it starts at 3 per season 1 per dive or something.

There is also talk of upping limits or offering different cards like a four per day limit if you're willing to lower your annual limit to 12. Anything is possible in this process but if you don't ask for it you won't get anything. Please take a moment to fill it out.

One idea being floated is to raise the annual limits in conjunction with multiple size limits. An example would be,
3/24 daily/annual limits with a 7 inch minimum size,
or 3/30 with a minimum size of 8
3/40 with a minimum size of 9
Etc.

Q: Do you have to have a “GO ID” number to be able to fill out the survey?
A: No, the “GO ID” number is optional. It is included as one way for the DFW to check that the survey takers are participants in the fishery.

Q: Do I have to fill out all questions in order to submit?
A: No, survey takers do not have to fill out all of the survey except for the two required questions in section 1 (questions 3 & 5)

(If you have opinions regarding the abalone fishery, I would strongly suggest taking advantage of this survey to convey your views.)

Q: When is the last day to fill out the survey?
A: March 6, 2015
