Have any of you spearheads out there who eat white Seabass and ocean fish regularly been tested for Mercury? Did it come up high?

Re: Mercury??

I don't eat white seabass, ( Florida) but I was tested for Mercury and it was high. Turns out most fish have it, larger predator fish have the most. Go online and you can find charts, it is local sensitive. Like Tile fish is REALLY bad in some areas. Hog fish is very low.

Re: Mercury??

Mercury is not normally included in a yearly physical blood test. Out of concern my Doctor included it. I'd have to try and look it up, but I was indeed High. When you read about mercury it is not a good thing.
I used to eat fish 4 or 5 nights a week, my wife and I love it. We've cut back and are more aware now.

Not quite specific to WSB, but this can be informative http://pvsfish.org/fishing/what-fish-are-safe-eat and also https://oehha.ca.gov/fish/ca-fishmap

Re: Mercury??

I heard Chris Oak regularly ate yellowtail and white seabass in the past until he tested himself for mercury and the results came back way too high. He had to cut back on how much fish he was eating per week. So yeah you can definitely get mercury poisoning from white seabass if you eat too much of it.

White seabass get can very large. And the bigger the fish the higher concentration of mercury that fish has. On a side note, it's probably healthier for you to eat a bunch of barely legal white seabass than a single 60lb seabass.

Re: Mercury??

I think they're starting to test the WSB for Mercury more. There was a nice post about it in the other Forum a few weeks back by Dr. Farlo. I guess Cilantro is good for Mercury.
