Pompano Beach

Hello everyone,
I’m an experienced spearo up in New England area. My family and I will be visiting Pompano beach December 5. I plan on catching dinner for them. I most likely will be shore diving or kayak.
Can someone please help me out here. I’m thinking a 3/3.5mm wetsuit and I’ll be bringing the Abellan 120 and a backup 80cm.
What kind of fish might i be able to target that time of year and what depths can i expect to be diving at?

Thanks to everyone who might be able to help. If you’re ever up visiting my area, I would be more than happy to return the favor!

Hi Brandon, in Pompano you will be shallow off the beach. Although it is fairly fished out, you might still be able to find some Mangrove and Dog Snapper, possibly a decent Hogfish, and some Triggerfish. Happy hunting...

Re: Pompano Beach

Hogfish are closed until May 1st. You can paddle out to the second or third reef and find some muttons and mangroves, maybe a lost black grouper, mackerels, lobsters, etc. A 3.5 mm wetsuit will be ok. Don't forget to buy your fishing licence and have a dive flag visible in your kayak.

If you're willing to drive down to Miami, I might take you out with us in my boat during the weekend.
