19 year old Swept off Packery Jetty!
Channel 6 news was filming down at the jetties a few days ago. They had the cameras on 4 people at the end of packery as the waves were washing over the end of the jetties. Just as a set rolled through you see four young men, then the wave rolls over the jetty and only 3 are left. 2 men jumped in to try and save the 19 year old Flour Bluff Graduate. One man suffered facial fractures being slammed against the rocks. He was in critical condition as of Monday AM. ANother young man in his 20's it looked was cut up on arms and legs pretty badly. The 19 year old was found several hours later inside packery by some fisherman.
The 19 year old was an avid surfer and kit surfer. not new to the water. Goes to show you when you gamble with mother nature you're playing against a stacked deck.

Prayers goes out to his family as well as all effected by IKE.
I also heard a story about a guy that got washed off the Texas City Dike (I think) and was found 17 hours in Trinty Bay(I think)

Re: 19 year old Swept off Packery Jetty!
My Prayers go out to all those involved with Hurricane Ike. Although I’m out here in California, right after Hurricane Katrina myself and others went down to Mississippi and set up a medical clinic on the lawn of the Long Beach High School. Those people were the most grateful and gratuitous I’ve ever had the privilege to treat. When we left, we gave several of the families our tents and other gear. I hope and pray that the medical support this time is a lot better than last time.
Stay strong and know that everyone is praying for you.
