"Updated" to Windows 10

Just updated to Windows 10 and first impression is I'm a little pissed because none of my user IDs nor passwords for Internet Explorer were maintained in the new "Edge" replacement for

Interestingly enough, Spotify info seems to be intact

Anybody else tried Windows 10 yet?

My tech guy STRONGLY advises against upgrading...sure sign up for the update, download it if you like, but don't install it yet...says it's not ready for the general public yet.

Re: "Updated" to Windows 10

Gary, the "old" IE should still be there (not sure about the password info tho). You can type "internet explorer" in the search bar and it will show as an option to execute. Then you might be able to copy on desktop as a shortcut ..

You are correct, but saved passwords are not there. I usually let IE keep track of passwords for most websites like Spearboard, but not critical ones that I would worry about someone getting control of.

Also I tried copying the old games folder from Windows 7, but the executables will not execute ... it's like buying a new computer, I guess you just have to spend the time to customize it for yourself.

Re: "Updated" to Windows 10

Windows 10 has the most draconian EULA ever...

http://www.techworm.net/2014/10/micr...very-move.html

They will push updates to your device, you cannot opt out. So if an update is buggy or has a hdwe conflict it's "too Bad" for you. Your device may not operate until they decide to patch it!

Previous version allowed the user to select or delay updates, this STOPS now on W-10.

The personal asst "Cortana" is even more intrusive as "she" reports all your info back to Micro-shaft (because you agreed to it).

The sad part is you will have agreed to all this via the security policy. Bottom-line is Micro-SHAFT can do whatever they want... whenever they want and your privacy no longer exists!

Look to Linux Mint, it's great!

I had a real lapse in judgement - my wife just had surgery and I have not slept more than 2 hours at a time for three days now

Re: "Updated" to Windows 10

SO.....MS used to always charge for their newest operating system. NOW, they're giving it away for FREE?? It just so happens the now MS Win10 has all these personal info snooping things that, IMO, are reporting back to the NSA. T His is just the thing that is making Google and Face book successful. Our crooked fed gov't is paying them money in order to harvest info on all their users.
IMO, stop using Windows and switch to Linux. I'm currently using Linux Mint and coudn't be happier. It's a wonderful interface that you can utilize a Windows emulator to access everything you want to.
F the NSA!
