Ah, the roller coaster! Hell ya it helps. Its enclosed track at the top of humps. That way, out of 63 inches overall track, 26 inches are enclosed at increments. This breaks vacuum created by enclosed tracks, keeps shaft from flexing and reduces side to side drag by over 50%. The elevator is 3/8 stainless rod with delrin spacers (4 per side) They roll on the dowel as you load and upon firing, reducing friction of rubber.
Not my design though. Got the Idea diving with Terry Moss in Mita years ago with Diving for a Cause. He has a stainless/composite gun built the same way. I just did it out of wood. Cherry, maple, mahogany, maple and teak in center lam, then reversed. Added almost 4 lbs. ballast and it is perfect in the water! Come on down and try it out!

Re: Heating up in Punt Mita

I know this is an old thread, but what do yall do with this massive amount of fish? You're in Sayulita/PM area for many days....the hotel will keep it frozen for you? Are you bringing it home in a cooler?

I'm going to San Pancho next month and looking to book a trip but don't want to over-fish.
